团队方法

赌场捕鱼网投 believes that upholding our commitments will take full community participation -- a team approach. Our Director of DEIS 和 Director of People & Culture will support school-wide DEIS efforts with students 和 employees, 和 our 校董会 has formed a DEIS committee to work in parallel, to support 和 ensure we continue to make progress 和 hold DEIS as a school priority. 除了, our Director of DEIS will facilitate the new DEIS Advisory Council which includes 教师 和 工作人员, 和 will work with student DEIS interns to advise, advocate for 和 support our shared DEIS goals.

These identity-based groups help foster community 和 are a vehicle for connection, 宣传, 和 support for students who identify as members of a historically marginalized group. Each group has its own unique mission 和 an adult advisor with a shared identity. 
 
除了 to the groups to the right, the school recently formed the  赌场捕鱼网投 White Antiracist Group (AWAG), an accountability space for students, 工作人员, 教师, 和 administrators who are White or have proximity to whiteness (self-identified) 和 are seeking to learn more about their whiteness 和 its relationship to antiracism (unlearning 和 relearning). A new adult/employee BIPOC affinity group will be added in 22-23.

Unlike student clubs that are organized around a shared passion 和 open to all, affinity groups are just for those with a shared identity background. As we explain to our students, “you know you are in the right affinity group if you can say unequivocally, I am __________ 和 can speak to that group’s collective identity 和 experience from the I 和 we 的角度来看.”

In 2020, 赌场捕鱼网投 made the following commitment to become an anti-racist school.

We, 赌场捕鱼网投, condemn racism, discrimination, 和 bigotry in all forms. Acknowledging that racism is systematic 和 self-perpetuating, we are counteracting racism by identifying 和 dismantling the systems--policies, 实践, 和 cultural norms-- that may be perpetuating racial inequities at 赌场捕鱼网投. While our work will be centered on enacting change at 赌场捕鱼网投, we will engage our entire community in the process thereby educating young people equipped to advocate for racial equity in their own communities 和 throughout their lives.

In 2021-2022 we made notable progress on our DEIS goals, including our anti-racist commitment (see DEIS Updates 8/24/2022). 和, we will continue on this journey, taking measurable actions each school year. See current-year initiatives listed by goal below. While each initiative is noted just once, many are in service to several of our four major multi-year goals.



Naoko Akiyama, Director of DEIS




Naoko brings over two decades of independent school experience with time spent in schools on both coasts. 除了 to her many years as a math teacher, Naoko has served schools 和 students in a variety of roles including Class Dean, 教务长, 社区生活学院院长, 和 Interim Director of 股本 和 赌场官方网投. Throughout her time as an educator, Naoko has been a committed DEI advocate 和 practitioner in both formal 和 informal capacities.
